Liz - Record her locations incase something happens to her
A project for Liz who wants to be able to log her location and upload pictures and documents
A quick response is a web page which will ask her browser for her GPS location. Her phone will automatically block this, unless she gives it permission. Since she wants to be tracked this is not a problem
A longer term solution is an app in her phone which will log her location every ten minutes or so, with or without internet connectivity, and send all locations automatically whenever she has internet access. Internet access can be whenever she has telephone service.
Many trackers already exist, where you have to pay money, don't know the people behind the app or who else has access to your information. This is just one more, but we bypass all the intrusive questions and she does know me.
Which brings us to a computer programming issue. Most computer programs are written by computer programmers. Not by the people who use them. Liz can decide what else she wants. It's an iterative collaboration. It's not costing her more money every time she wants an improvement. Indeed it's not costing her anything.
If this turns out to be a service you want, you can do this yourself without me. It's very easy. Don't think you need a web server and a fixed IP address like I have, you don't. From anywhere in the world, you can connect to a family member's normal home computer, once you know their currently assigned IP address. For that you just need an IP address to bounce off. That might be a service I end up providing or you might know companies with their own fixed IP addresses. Skype was able to connect frighteningly easily through corporate fire walls, by users first connecting out through the firewalls which is/was trusted, to a known IP address on the internet, then swopping their current IP addresses to get direct contact. You can then save your locations to your family members only.
Look up JavaScript navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition
JavaScript is the small programs which run in your browser, be it your desktop or your mobile. If you right-click on your web page and view page source, you'll probably see some. You can read up on JavaScript GeoLocation and even try it online using the World Wide Web Schools www.w3schools.com/js/js_api_geolocation.asp

If you want a record of where you've been and you are outside of WiFi and telephone connectivity, take pictures even with the phone in your handbag. It records the GPS and DateTime in the picture.
